Steps

  1. Tap + and keep Post selected.
  2. Tap Effects, to the left of the record button, before you record anything.
  3. Choose an effect. Under Face Filters there is Street Cred, a floating crown. Under Impact Overlays there are Wave Connect and Pulse Burst, each a floating card. Tap No Effect to clear your choice.
  4. A recording screen opens for that effect. Its name shows at the top. Street Cred uses the front camera.
  5. For an Impact Overlay, move your phone to scan a surface, then tap the surface to place the card. Tap somewhere else to move it. Pin to view keeps the card in front of you instead of fixed in the room.
  6. Tap the red button to record. Tap it again to stop. Tap the X to leave without recording. You return to the camera with no effect selected.
  7. The clip goes to the Trim screen, then Overlays and Details, like any other recording. See Recording and editing a video.

Good to know

  • Effects only shows before you record your first clip, with Post or Ripple selected. Picking Live or Drop on the strip hides it. The camera you open from a Drop to record its video does offer Effects. Live has its own Overlay choice on the Go Live screen, with the same two cards. See Going live.
  • An AR recording is a single clip. It goes straight to Trim, so you cannot add more clips to it.
  • Street Cred is the only face filter at the moment. It is a look only. It does not give you Street Cred or claim Originator.
  • World Drops (Drop the Beat and Impact Zone) are marked Coming Soon. Tapping one explains that they are not available yet. They are an AR effect, not the same thing as a Drop left at a place.
  • Street Cred needs an iPhone that can track your face. If yours cannot, the screen says 2D Mode. Recording there saves nothing, and you return to the camera.
  • If world tracking is not available, the screen says 2D Mode. You still record normal camera video, but the card is not in the recorded clip.
  • If tracking is limited, a message asks you to move slowly and keep a textured surface in view.
