A Ripple is a casual video that disappears after 24 hours. It shows in the row of circles at the top of the Feed for people who follow you. It does not count toward Originator, Street Cred, Pulse or Currents.
Steps
Tap +. On the strip under the record button, tap Ripple. Before you record, the camera shows "Disappears in 24h" above the record button.
Tap Next, then trim the clip. Tap Next: Add Text, add any text or stickers, then tap Send. There is no Details screen, so a Ripple has no caption, category, audience or music.
On the confirmation screen, tap Done. Your Ripple appears in the circle labelled You at the top of the Feed.
Good to know
You and people who follow you can see your Ripples. A Ripple does not appear in For You, Following, search or Currents. It does not appear on your profile either.
To watch, tap a circle at the top of the Feed. Each person's Ripples play in order, oldest first. When one ends the next starts on its own, and after a person's last Ripple the next person's Ripples play. Tap the right side of the screen to go forward, the left side to go back. Swipe down or tap the X at the top right to close.
Your own circle stays coloured. On other people's circles, a coloured ring means Ripples you have not watched yet. A grey ring means you have seen them all.
On someone else's Ripple, tap one of the emoji at the bottom to react. Tap it again to remove your reaction. Only the creator sees reactions.
On your own Ripple, tap the viewers count at the bottom to see who watched and how they reacted. Nobody else can see that list.
Nobody can like, comment on, save or share a Ripple, and a Ripple cannot be used for a Stitch or Duet.
Text, emoji and image stickers work on a Ripple. The sticker picker still offers Interactive stickers such as Poll and Question, but they do not appear on a Ripple after you send it.
A Ripple is posted from your own account. A page cannot post a Ripple.
