Steps

  1. On your iPhone, open Settings > Notifications > Pamojah and make sure Allow Notifications is on.
  2. In Pamojah, go to Settings (Profile tab, then the menu button at the top right). Under Notifications, the Push Notifications switch shows what your iPhone allows. If it is off, tap it. Pamojah asks for permission if it has not asked before. If you refused earlier, it opens iPhone Settings for you.
  3. Tap Notification Preferences. Check the switch for the alert you are missing, for example Messages, Likes, New Followers, Poll Votes, Drop Replies or Nearby Drops.
  4. For Nearby Drops, also check location. If the screen says "Location permission is off for Pamojah, so nearby alerts can't work", see Location permission for Drops. Only a Drop from someone you follow sets off this alert.
  5. Make sure you are logged in to Pamojah on this phone. Logging out stops notifications on that phone until you log in again.
  6. Look for a banner at the top of the app. While your account is paused or scheduled for deletion, Pamojah sends you no notifications at all. Tap Reactivate on the banner to bring the account back.

Good to know

  • Turning the Push Notifications switch off in Pamojah does not turn notifications off. It opens iPhone Settings, which is where that choice lives.
  • The note under the Activity switches on Notification Preferences says: "Choose which events send you a push notification. These are silenced entirely when Push Notifications is turned off above."
  • A notification that arrives while you are in the app shows as a banner. It also stays in Notification Center, so you can come back to it. Tapping a notification opens the Drop, the Drop reply, or your Activity screen.
  • While you have Pamojah open, a new message usually shows inside the app instead of as a notification.
  • When you open the app, the number on the Pamojah app icon is set to the count of Pamojah notifications still in Notification Center. Until then the number may not match what is waiting.
  • Nearby Drops alerts are sent as Time Sensitive. Whether one gets through a Focus depends on how that Focus is set up on your iPhone.
  • Pamojah does not send email notifications.
  • Pamojah sends each notification to every phone where you are logged in and have allowed notifications.
