Set the default for your account

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy.
  2. Under Downloads, turn Allow downloads on or off.

Change it for one post

  1. Open one of your Public posts from your profile, then tap Share.
  2. In the bottom row, scroll sideways to the end and tap Downloads. It only appears on a Public post.
  3. Choose Use my account setting, On or Off. The line under the choices tells you what other people get.

Good to know

  • When downloads are on, people can save your Public videos and share them to other apps. The app's words: "Saved videos show your @handle and the Pamojah mark."
  • When downloads are off, people can still share a link to the video. For someone without the app, that link opens a page with no video that says "This video is only available in the app." Save video is greyed out, the video buttons in the Share sheet are hidden, and the sheet says "Downloads are off for this video."
  • Where the switch starts depends on the birthdate you gave when you signed up. Adults start with downloads on. Younger accounts start with downloads off and can turn them on. For the youngest accounts the switch is greyed out and reads "Downloads aren't available for this account." Downloads cannot be turned on for any of their posts.
  • Some videos cannot be saved whatever you choose. The Downloads screen is locked and shows a sentence instead. A video with licensed music shows "This video uses licensed music, so it can only be shared as a link." A video tagged Contains Explicit Content shows "This video can only be shared as a link." A Stitch or Duet of a video that cannot be saved shows "Downloads are off for this video."
  • You can save your own post whatever the setting, unless one of those limits applies or downloads are not available for your account.
  • Only Public posts can be shared outside Pamojah at all. See Who can see your post.
  • A post made as a Page starts with downloads on, unless downloads are not available for your account. Its Downloads screen reads "Use the default" instead of "Use my account setting".
  • Downloads off is not copy protection. It removes the save and video buttons in the app. It cannot stop someone recording their screen, and videos people already saved stay on their phones.
