Steps

  1. Go to Settings (Profile tab, then the menu button at the top right, then Settings). Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  2. Step 1 of 3 explains what gets deleted, what stays, and the 30 days you have to change your mind. Tap Continue.
  3. Step 2 of 3: enter your current password and tap Continue. Pamojah asks for it "so that nobody who picks up your unlocked phone can delete your account."
  4. Step 3 of 3: type DELETE in capital letters, then tap Delete My Account.
  5. The Deletion Scheduled screen shows the exact date your account will be erased. Tap Done. This signs you out on this phone.

A fuller list of what is erased and what is kept is on Data deletion.

Good to know

  • Your account is hidden from everyone the moment you confirm. Any other device you are signed in on is signed out soon after.
  • You have 30 days to change your mind. Sign back in before the date on the Deletion Scheduled screen and your account is restored in full. The app greets you with "Welcome back" and "Signing in cancelled the deletion of your account. Everything has been restored." After that date nothing can be recovered.
  • What is erased: your profile, your videos, your Drops and Ripples, your comments, and the messages you sent. Messages other people sent you are not erased. People you messaged keep the conversation, shown as "Account unavailable", and can read it but cannot send to you. Once your account is erased, your messages there read "Message removed". Replies other people left on your Drops stay.
  • Your Street Cred votes stay on Pamojah. They are detached from your name and kept as anonymous votes, so past charts and Originator claims stay accurate. Stitches and Duets other people made from your videos stay up, because they are their posts. Apart from those, nothing that is kept identifies you.
  • If you are the only owner of a page, the page is hidden as soon as you confirm. It comes back if you restore your account, unless Pamojah removed the page. See Page admins.
  • A wrong password takes you back to Step 2. Any other problem leaves you where you are, so you can try again.
  • If you only want a break, see Pausing your account. A paused account is not deleted and there is no deadline.
